This role reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The purpose of the role is to produce machine parts by operating a manual machine or programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Closing Date: 30/01/25 Duties will include: The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate quality workmanship while meeting the standard times for the assigned job. While showing a degree of flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and contribute towards continuous improvement. The candidate will also be required to; Plan machining by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting dimensions and tolerances. Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, vices, tools, attachments, collets, gears etc. Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position. Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards. Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs. Keeping work area clean/tidy plus free from hazards. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Document actions by completing production and quality logs. Requirements Have experience in a similar role. Have experience of reading engineering/technical drawings and making to specification. Experience in editing/proving CNC programs. Have excellent communications skills. Be proficient in using a variety of measuring equipment. Be comfortable working in a busy environment and be able to use your initiative and plan in advance. Be flexible and adaptable to change. Be self-motivated with a good work ethic and attention to detail is essential.
