The role
We are a small and supportive team based in regulatory affairs. This role supports the work of the Toxicologist, enabling compliance and enabling Lush to stay at the forefront of safety testing. We value each individual for their contribution, passion, experience, and areas of expertise. You will manage your own workload and work closely with other teams across Lush and with external companies such as Xcellr8.
We continually strive to create, innovate, improve and test cosmetic products that are environmentally friendly, free from preservatives, beneficial to the consumer, and cruelty-free.
We have always campaigned against animal testing and supported innovation in animal-free testing through The Lush Prize, which we hosted in partnership with Ethical Consumer.

Key Responsibilities
1. Organisation skills: Organising and handling information related to impurities and their regulatory requirements, as well as coordinating and managing testing activities.
2. Toxicology: Possessing a comprehensive knowledge of toxicology principles and various assessment methods. Participating and contributing to projects related to toxicology.
3. Data management: Maintaining and updating databases with the latest findings and information on raw materials, including handling information related to impurities and their regulatory requirements.
4. Research skills: Researching and sourcing information from scientific literature, as well as being proactive in finding new sources of information.
5. Scientific writing: Support the writing of scientific papers and communicate scientific information effectively, including conducting bibliographic reviews.
6. Training and development: Ability to train and develop knowledge and skills in others, such as assisting the Toxicology Assistant.
7. Independent work and solutions focused: Capability to work independently, initiate tasks, and solve problems effectively. Presenting well-researched, appropriate, and clear solutions in the work.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Bachelor or Masters degree in biology, chemistry or toxicology
* Deep understanding of toxicology and assessment methods
* Good knowledge of in vitro testing of chemicals
* Bibliographical research
* Effective written/verbal communication and organisation/analytical skills.
* Confident in using Google Suite and Microsoft, along with additional programmes required by the role, such as for SDS management
* Confident with data management
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Curiosity and drive to learn and develop skills through the work that is completed
* Previous experience in the cosmetics industry would be valued for this role.
