This full-time position is initially offered on a three-month contract, with a view for extension or permanent placement for the right candidate. As an Assistant Caretaker, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. Key Responsibilities: Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of school premises and facilities. Act as a keyholder and respond to emergency situations such as break-ins or fire alarms. Perform minor repairs, including plumbing, decorating, and plastering, as needed. Supervise external contractors working on-site and liaise with the Site Manager. Maintain and monitor the security of the school, including operating heating and lighting systems. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and policies. Support the school in preparing for events and activities, including room setups. Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or similar role. Basic understanding of health and safety procedures. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently. Knowledge of operating heating plants and security systems. Proficiency in minor DIY tasks, such as plumbing and decorating. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
