79722 - Field Engineer
This Field Engineer will report to the Lead Field Engineer and will work within Network Operations based in our Bengeworth road office. You will be a permanent employee. You will attract a salary of £51,245 - £76,229 per annum (depending on experience), Inner London Allowance £5723.57, Non canteen allowance £311 and a bonus of 3%. If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

Job Purpose: To work as part of a team within the London Region geographical area. Also you will support Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults within the area. This includes liaison with customers, network operations and control, networks guidance of field staff and management of contractors.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
2. Responsibility for delivery of all maintenance, construction and fault works to time, cost and quality.
3. Ensure staff comply with all procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
4. Daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources.
5. Communicate with HV/LV control – submission of HV/LV switching log, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance to distribution safety rules and procedures.
6. Ensure that the Asset Database – SAP, is updated with completed work by the system.
7. Support and provide technical support to field staff.
8. Manage and resolve any contract actual issues, with the support of Contract Management.
9. Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work.
10. Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and to rectify any quality issues identified.
11. Communicate with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible.
12. To be prepared to assist other sections e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies as determined by your experience.
13. Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby).
From 1 October 2024 all new employees appointed to the Field Engineer or Lead Field Engineers roles within Network Operations will include a contractual requirement to undertake standby for a minimum period of 20 years, or up to the age of 55 whichever comes first.
Nature and Scope: You will play an important role in the team and manage the delivery of all Maintenance, Capital Programme, Connections and Faults work within a geographical area. Together with the scheduling team, Work Planner, Field Staff Supervisor and Field Staff, you will deliver an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
1. Good organisational and communication skills
2. ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
3. HNC Electrical Engineering, or equivalent (if not achieved, must be committed to undertaking studies)
4. IT literate, including financial and work package (SAP)
5. Current valid driving licence
Desirable:
1. LV/HV authorisation on the LPN network
2. NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisors certificate
3. IOSH Managing Safely certificate
4. Familiarity with MS Excel spreadsheets

Should you not currently possess the full range of essential skills, qualifications and competencies listed above, there may be an opportunity for further training to equip the successful candidate appropriately. If the successful candidate does not possess all relevant competencies for the core grade, it will be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until they have developed the required competencies.
To be appointed to a suitable point within “Band D grade” (£76,229) staff must have as a minimum; HNC (or equivalent) full Hv SAP Authorisation including Hv Faults.
To be appointed to a suitable point within “Band E grade” (£61,723) staff must have as a minimum; ONC (or equivalent), full Lv AP Authorisation including Lv Faults.
All other successful candidates will be appointed to a suitable point within Band F (£51,245).
