Are you passionate about supporting young people?
If so then you could be well suited to becoming a Connected Coach.
This is a position within a new service aimed at supporting better outcomes for young people while remaining, or returning, to live within their family networks. Connected Coaches work intensively with young people and their families to reduce risk and increase stability. It is an active and assertive outreach role, often based in the community. The Connected Coach role is varied, rewarding and an opportunity to contribute to a leading initiative that is making a difference.
East Sussex launched the Connected Families Service for families with children aged 11-17 who are on the edge of care 2 years ago and our coaches are making a significant difference to the lives of these young people. The Connected Coaches Service brings together Connected Coaches, a Clinical Multi-Disciplinary team, and allied professionals to enable proactive, tailored support for families at their point of need.
As a Coach within the Connected Families Service, you will deliver creative, sustainable solutions, designed with families, for families. You will need to have experience of working with families who are facing tough times; you will have a particular affinity for working with young people aged 11-17, a belief that most families can be supported to stick together and that all young people have the right to a great future. Significant experience of working with neurodiverse children and adults, or mental health challenges, a background in youth work/positive activities would be a distinct advantage. If you can bring other skills such as an Occupational Therapist background or Speech & Language Therapist or Non-Violent Resistance training then we would be particularly interested in hearing from you. You will also need to meet the travel requirements of a county-wide role.
We know that families’ needs do not fit into a neat 9-5 bubble; so, this post will include working flexibly across evenings and weekends, for which an out of hours supplement is included in the pay grade. We will support you through peer, management, and clinical supervision; and enable you to develop an area of expert practice, building on your existing skills or shining light on a new subject.
We are looking to recruit adaptable, highly motivated, skilled individuals with a diverse range of personal and professional expertise to help us deliver our vision. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an innovative program, working differently with families to support relationships, build resilience, and smooth pathways.
We warmly welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage those from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds, those who are disabled, male, who identify as LGBTQ+ or who are Care Experienced. We are working towards recruiting a workforce that reflects our community because we recognise the unique skills and experience that an individual brings.
