At Co-op Academy Swinton, we are committed to providing a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters innovation, creativity and academic excellence. We strive to prepare students for the ever-evolving digital world. Our school has a reputation for excellence in both teaching and technology, and we're looking for a dedicated Teacher of Computer Science to join our vibrant team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Computer Science who will inspire and empower our students to embrace the world of technology and facilitate a learning experience that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential. Successful candidates will be proactive, well-organised and passionate about creating the best possible environment for our staff and students.
Experience of teaching across the secondary age and ability using a variety of teaching and learning styles is essential, as is successfully teaching Computer Science in one or more UK state secondary schools at both Key Stages 3 and 4 as a qualified teacher.
Our aim is to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. With this in mind, we are looking to appoint a teacher who shares our vision for a learning environment and curriculum that is ambitious as well as supportive and nurturing. We focus on and take great pride in our students' behaviour, aiming for high achievement in an environment based on rewards, not sanctions.
You’ll do all this whilst capturing the spirit of our vision and values and role-modelling exceptional professional behaviours. You’ll need great organisational skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and be able to work constructively as part of a team. Your ability to use initiative, work independently and be resilient are also crucial.
At Co-op Academy Swinton, we pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional educational experience for our students and fostering a supportive, collaborative environment for our staff. You will be working with passionate colleagues who are dedicated to challenging and supporting students in equal measure. Together, you will guide them through their educational journey, ensuring they are well-prepared for the world beyond.
Why us?
Our academy provides a place for pupils aged 11-16. We are easily commutable from all areas of the North West with Swinton train station less than a 5-minute walk away. We have a dedicated team of staff who build and share positive relationships and a caring culture with our wonderful students. This was highlighted in our recent Ofsted inspection (June 2024), where we were graded ‘Good’ in all areas.
All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours:
1. Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
2. Self-responsibility: Everyone should act in a responsible way around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.
3. Equality: We are proud to be part of a very multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves.
4. Equity: We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
5. Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
6. Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.
