This full-time position is set to begin after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. You will be joining a well-resourced department that encourages hands-on learning and design thinking. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons aligned with the national curriculum. Teach a variety of Design Technology disciplines, including Resistant Materials, Graphics, Product Design, and/or Engineering, depending on expertise. Guide students through practical projects, teaching them how to use tools, materials, and digital technologies safely and effectively. Support students in developing their design, problem-solving, and technical skills. Prepare students for assessments and GCSE examinations by ensuring they meet coursework and exam requirements. Foster creativity and innovation in students by encouraging independent and collaborative design work. Monitor student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback. Maintain a safe and well-organized workshop environment, ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department to share best practices and develop engaging lesson plans. Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress and strategies for improvement. Stay up to date with advancements in Design Technology education to enhance teaching methods and resources. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification. Experience teaching Design Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4. Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology disciplines such as Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Product Design. Ability to deliver practical and theoretical lessons that engage and inspire students. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate students of all abilities.
