The Role
The successfully appointed Physical Security Lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day physical security requirements for the CAA. This will include providing advice to colleagues, managing security incidents and supporting project teams to ensure that security requirements are built into the requirements of projects.
Core Accountabilities
* Manage security risks by supporting physical security operations and the deployment of security measures to effectively protect assets, (information, people, buildings, and equipment) throughout the CAA estate.
* Work with the Security Incidents Response Team (SIRT) to ensure that all incidents are reported, investigated and capture lessons learnt as a way of highlighting key security trends.
* Support Head of Security in monitoring and assurance activities including completing the annual Departmental Security Health Check and using information from it to identify areas for improvement and to ensure compliance to the Government Security Standards.
* Attend Security Meetings within CAA and across government.
* Provide security advice and run security briefings for colleagues travelling overseas for business.
* Provide security advice to CAA project teams to ensure that security requirements are appropriately captured before project commences.
* Day to day management of corporate security passes including approving access rights.
* Day to Day manage CAA Regulatory Access cards and access to industry and regularly review and update internal processes in line for Aviation Security regulatory changes.
* Work with wider security team to maintain up to date records of security access cards in line with GDPR regulations.
* Manage the delivery of security improvement projects and work.
* Work closely with our physical security contractors to ensure that corporate security controls are effective and fit for purpose.
* Work with Head of Security to monitor and review physical security threats and updating physical security risk assessments as necessary.
* Develop and deliver physical security training as required.
* Produce monthly and annual security key performance indicators (KPI) and performance monitoring dashboards.
* Manage the liaison with local enforcement authorities as required.
* Review emergency procedures and H&S function support and alignment with business continuity and emergency and crisis management plans.
About You
To be considered for the role you must have:
* Good writing skills and able to prepare written reports, business cases and incident investigations reports.
* Good understanding of GDPR Regulations, CCTV auditing and general security risk management.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to build good working relationships and provide higher level technical advice and guidance across a range of functions.
* Manage physical security data collection and produce regular management reports as required.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel.
* Able to achieve SC clearance.
* Experience working in a security management role.
* Attend office at least 2 days per week.
Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.
