Buyer - Joinery
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join our client's team. My client is a dynamic company specializing in bespoke joinery and high-quality production services, looking for an experienced Joinery Buyer to join their team. If you have a background in joinery and a keen eye for detail, this could be the perfect role for you!
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Joinery Buyer, you will play a crucial role in our procurement process, ensuring that our bespoke items, goods, and services meet specified budgets, quality standards, and project timelines.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Planning and executing the purchase of goods, services, and bespoke items.
2. Reviewing, comparing, and evaluating prices to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
3. Drafting quotations, raising purchase orders, and managing supplier contracts.
4. Liaising with suppliers, production teams, and colleagues to ensure timely availability of materials and products.
5. Briefing suppliers and contractors on production work requirements and conducting quality control checks at supplier factories.
6. Maintaining positive supplier relationships while negotiating specifications, pricing, and deadlines.
7. Managing the Workshop Quote Log and Monthly Project Report, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
8. Updating and maintaining supplier information and seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in efficiency and performance.
About You:
We are looking for a proactive and organized individual with a strong background in joinery. To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A confident and outgoing personality with the ability to think on your feet.
2. A comprehensive understanding of our products, production methods, and the needs of other departments (metal work, plastic fabrication, joinery, sprayshop, LED).
3. A resilient nature, capable of thriving in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
4. Proficiency in computer skills, including intermediate knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Apple Mac Book.
5. A commutable distance from Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
6. Previous experience in a joinery-focused role is essential.
General Information:
You will be based in my clients Stevenage office five days a week, with occasional travel as a company representative. Flexibility to work extra hours during peak production times. Benefits include 25 days of holiday and a statutory government pension scheme.
