Manufacturing Futures are looking to appoint a proactive Master Planner for a fast-paced manufacturing business based in Bolton, Lancashire!

The Master Planner is a business-critical role reporting to the General Manager. You will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of existing and future manufacturing schedules, delivering Logistics Management activities and ensuring customer programmes are met promptly.
This is a hands-on role in a very fast-paced and demanding environment, so it’s essential you can work with various stakeholders (internal and external) to accomplish the tasks at hand.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the timely and cost-effective provisioning of parts from suppliers overseas (China, Europe) and UK suppliers and internal services.
2. Proactively manage the production schedule to identify, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, roadblocks or issues which could delay production – missing orders, products, manufacturing, delivery dates, etc.
3. Define and control the detailed manufacturing plan such that inventory and work-in-progress are maintained at minimum levels consistent within a lean manufacturing facility, ensuring parts in stock/on-site meet demanding production schedules.
4. Provide written and verbal information on the status of the plan and achievements to date, using management reporting techniques.
5. Raise production orders/work orders for the factory on a day-to-day basis to ensure parts and labour are there for the fitting/assembly.
6. Tactically manage collaborative and preferred suppliers of bought-out items, so that material flows satisfy programme requirements whilst minimising stock levels.
7. Strong financial reporting and management. Need to have a great grasp on financial reporting to ensure timely current and future invoicing – report up the chain on cash.
8. Attend and contribute to review meetings i.e. Production, Forward Planning Sessions, Supplier Reviews, Cross Functional Sessions.
9. Contribute to the implementation of proposed task directive changes, and new or amended orders, regarding their effect on inventory and programme.
Your Skills and Abilities:
1. At least five years of experience in a Planning or Scheduling focused role.
2. Previous work history at a manufacturing company.
3. Ability to work with Excel whilst transitioning to a new MRP system.
