We have a state of the art R&D facility in Oxfordshire and are currently looking to complement our highly skilled team with the brightest minds from within the battery sector.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Scientist Materials and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for technical specifications and recommendations across all key battery active materials and components. To ensure the successful selection and validation of the battery raw material supply chain.
The focus of this role will be to support the global manufacturing operations and procurement teams working out of the UK to recommend, assess and down select materials based on specific project requirements.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established and growing R&D team focusing on supply chain interactions and state of the art offerings in order to guide and drive cell development from a material point of view.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Work at the interface between Agratas R&D, Global Procurement and Suppliers to define and select current and future battery materials and components.
1. Draft material specifications for RFI and RFQ
2. Contribute within the team to material/technology landscaping
3. Contribute as part of a team to ensure that material roadmaps and supply chains align with technology upgrades
4. Identify and communicate material trends and risks to the wider R&D team and company
5. Assess, compare and translate supplier technical capabilities for the wider company
6. Engage with and foster productive technical relationships with suppliers, digest and contextualise complex scientific concepts in discussion.
7. Ensure decisions are driven by company values to deliver high performance, cost effective and environmentally friendly batteries
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Experience with RFI and RFQ processes
2. Subject matter expert in at least one key battery material with a well-rounded understanding of battery technology
3. Experience in chemical or electrochemical data analysis and interpretation
4. Understanding of supplier validation processes
Desired
1. Strong grasp of materials characterisation techniques and their outputs for quality
2. Experience of cell development
3. Additional industrial experience from within the battery materials supply chain is highly advantageous.
4. Understanding of the strict confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information involved in material transfer agreements, non-disclosure agreements and joint-development agreements.
