Job Title: Early Years Practitioner (Qualified Level 3)
Location: Kidderminster, Worcestershire
Salary: £19,069.96 per year (£11.83 per hour)
Hours: 31 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7:30am – 5:30pm. Occasional evening staff meetings and training sessions required. Time off in lieu (TOIL) awarded for out-of-hours work.
About Us: First Class Nursery, established in 1998 and now part of YMCA Worcestershire, offers quality childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are open 51 weeks a year, closing on Bank Holidays and over Christmas.
Job Purpose: To provide a high standard of care and education for children attending the Nursery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and implement a wide range of inclusive activities for children aged 3 months to 5 years.
* Support the learning of all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
* Adhere to the Statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
* Contribute to and implement the nursery curriculum to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
* Maintain a sound knowledge of child development and use guides such as Birth to 5, Development Matters, and Wellcomm.
* Ensure high standards of hygiene and encourage children to do the same.
* Adhere to Health & Safety procedures, ensuring supervision, vigilance, and continuous risk assessment.
* Maintain professionalism and abide by the nursery’s policies.
* Work collaboratively with other staff members as part of a team.
* Complete termly assessments, regular progress reviews, and parent conversations for key children.
* Participate in training courses to stay updated with current Early Years thinking.
* Liaise with parents and carers, maintaining confidentiality and high standards of record-keeping.
* Respond to safeguarding issues and follow policies and procedures.
Person Specification:
* Relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare or equivalent.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
* Experience as a key worker preferred.
* Passion for early years education and a genuine desire to make a difference in children’s lives.
* Willingness to engage in fun, creative activities with children.
* To have a sense of fun, and be willing to dress up, read an exciting story, sing out of tune, dance, be a dog princess or a dinosaur, as requested on demand, get muddy outdoors and get messy whilst being creative would be an advantage.
To have a passion and respect for the early year’s profession and genuine desire to make a difference to a child’s life and learning journey.
Additional Information:
* Permanent position starting January 2025.
* Employment conditional upon satisfactory DBS Disclosure and verified references.
* Subject to a 6-month probation period.
