PURPOSE OF THE POST & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking to appoint a suitably experienced specialty doctor to join our committed and supportive team. This post holder will be working as part of the Oncology middle grade team based at Cheltenham General Hospital and also travelling to Hereford County Hospital 1 day a week. This post focuses on providing care to patients with lung and lower gastrointestinal cancers. The post will include supervising and prescribing systemic treatment, radiotherapy planning, seeing new patients and those on follow up.
The majority of the post will cover outpatients. There will be opportunities to gain experience in:
1. Inpatient work
2. Depending on the interests of the successful applicant, support will be given to pursue a Quality Improvement project
3. The post holder will join a highly supportive team including 3 Specialist Doctors, 4 SAS doctors, Junior and Senior Clinical Fellows and 10 Registrars
4. This is not a training post but clinical experience and supervision will be similar to SpRs
5. There is an active clinical research programme
Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements:
1. To support the provision of a first-class clinical service
2. To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
3. To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's and Divisions services plans
LOCATION
The principal place of work for this post is Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) and the post holder will also be required to attend Hereford County Hospital once a week. Other work locations, including off site working, may be agreed in the post-holder's Job Plan where appropriate, e.g. for supporting professional activities and some direct clinical care such as audit. The post-holder will generally be expected to undertake their Programmed Activities at the principal place of work or other locations agreed in the Job Plan.
