Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bioacoustics: The University of New England (UNE) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bioacoustics to join the School of Environmental and Rural Science. This full-time position, with potential for part-time consideration, is fixed-term until 13 March 2026. The successful candidate will work on developing automated acoustic recognisers to detect avian vocalisations using Python and C++.

Minimum Requirements:
* PhD in Bioacoustics, Ornithology, Animal Behaviour, or a related field
* Experience in bioacoustics analyses
* Proficiency in Python and/or C++ for machine-learning tasks
* Collaborative approach and effective communication skills
* Appropriate Australian work rights for the duration of the position (UNE will not provide sponsorship)
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Associate will:
* Develop and fine-tune Python and C++ code for detecting specific avian vocalisations
* Work within a team to collect, annotate, and develop recogniser data
* Take primary responsibility for developing and refining acoustic recognisers
* Utilise established methods and collaborate within a multi-institutional and multidisciplinary team
* Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
