Job Title: Sport & Leisure Supervisor
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £24,248 per year
Contract: Fixed-term until 31st January 2025, with a view to extend
Job Summary:
My Client is seeking a dynamic and motivated Sports Services Supervisor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Sports Services Assistants and Fitness Assistants, ensuring the smooth operation of our Sports Centre facilities. In the absence of senior staff, the Sports Services Supervisor will take on the responsibility for the overall management of the Sports Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision & Operations: Oversee daily sports facilities operations, allocate tasks to staff, and manage shift schedules. Lead in areas such as Operations/Health & Safety, Marketing/Promotions, or Fitness/Strength & Conditioning.
2. Programme Coordination: Work with the Sports Services Officer to plan and deliver sports programmes, including classes and coaching sessions.
3. Coaching & Development: Develop and implement quality coaching and fitness programmes for clubs and individuals.
4. Induction & Training: Coordinate and deliver fitness inductions. Recruit, train, and supervise additional staff as needed.
5. Personal Training: Design and implement individual fitness programmes in collaboration with the Performance Services Coordinator.
6. Business Development: Create and organise new opportunities to increase participation from university and non-university groups.
7. Promotion & Marketing: Assist in promoting sports services and facilities to maximise membership recruitment and retention.
8. Administration: Manage bookings, handle cash transactions, and oversee information and report management.
9. Equipment & Facilities Management: Supervise equipment setup, maintenance, and facility cleanliness.
Qualifications and Skills:
10. Proven experience in a supervisory role within a sports or fitness environment.
11. Obtained or in the final stages of a BTEC HND qualification or equivalent in an area including or related to Physical Education/Recreation Management/Sports Coaching.
12. Fitness Instructor's Award or equivalent
13. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
14. Experience in coordinating sports programmes and activities.
15. Knowledge of health and safety practices in a sports setting.
16. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
17. First aid certification is desirable.
