Fee: £1200 (based on 2 weeks @ £600 per week)
Work-in-progress performance: Thursday 20th March
Venue: Parc and Dare Theatre, Treorchy
Role Requirements:
RCT Theatres seeks a director to support Bethan Nia on the development of her new show exploring the themes of Cymraeg and femaleness, with traditional Welsh music and contemporary songwriting at its heart. We’re interested in meeting Welsh-speaking directors who enjoy a sense of theatricality, some aspects of dance, and playing with narrative and character through a music gig setting.
Key to the production is a set of audio recordings of ‘Nan’, an elderly lady living in the village where Bethan grew up, who represents an idea of Cymraeg and history. Alongside this, Bethan would like to explore her own personal experiences and stories of being a Welsh-speaking woman with strong cultural roots, sifting through cultural norms to find her identity within this landscape.
This R&D period builds on recent ACW-funded R&D activity and will feature a work-in-progress sharing as part of RCT Theatres programme of new work.
To apply, please contact jesse.briton@rctcbc.gov.uk with your CV, some links to previous work, and a short statement on why you’d be interested in the role by 5pm on Wednesday 5th Feb.
