Job summary Applications are invited for the post of Dental Core Trainee in Oral Surgery / Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. This is a full time position to start September 2025. The post is based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, The Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran and Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, South East Wales. Salary to be agreed dependent on experience. Main duties of the job The department provides a modern service for the whole of Gwent which has a population of approximately 600,000 people. The unit is based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport and additional clinics are held at Nevill Hall Hospital Abergavenny. Additional operative capacity and A&E facilities (including on-call) has moved to The Grange University Hospital. The unit has modern facilities which include 6 consultation rooms, a daycase suite and two operating theatres. The laboratory has facilities for three technicians. The Department undertakes a wide range of maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic surgery, surgery for orofacial malignancy, trauma surgery, TMJ arthroscopy, laser surgery and implantology. There is an active education and audit programme within the Department. The DCTs will work a one in ten "on call" full shift working pattern rota for facial trauma with prospective cover of annual and study leave. This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer: Enhanced check with barred list information, including adults and children's barred list check Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC.
