Your Role as a Personal Care Assistant
As part of our client's dedicated support team, you'll provide vital one-to-one care in his home, ensuring he feels safe, confident, and supported in his daily life. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect but will work exclusively with this client, helping him reach his full potential.
About the Client & Your Responsibilities
Our client is a 33 year old gentleman with a brain injury and multi-sensory impairment (MSI). Your role is to provide a structured, supportive and engaging environment to help him navigate daily life and build his independence.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting him with learning, vocational and social activities to encourage confidence and engagement with his community
Assisting with his physiotherapy program and structured exercise routine.
Encouraging participation in everyday tasks like food preparation and household chores
Providing clear and effective communication to ensure his safety and wellbeing
Acting as his ‘ears’ to help him access information and navigate his surroundings
This role requires someone who is dependable, confident, caring and fun, with a strong commitment to effective communication.
Requirements
Essential Requirements:
· This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1, meaning we can only recruit male workers for this role.
* Previous care experience, particularly supporting individuals with epilepsy
* Understanding of multi-sensory impairment and its challenges
* Full hearing ability (to support the client’s specific needs)
* Good IT skills
* Ability to support the client in the community
* Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
* Reliable, compassionate, and able to maintain confidentiality
Desirable (but not essential):
* Experience with BSL or Makaton (training will be provided if needed)
* Full UK driving licence

ü 5-Day Intervenor Training

All training must be completed before the start date (paid at minimum wage)
