Job Overview:
Gi Pro are recruiting on behalf of a leading company in aerospace sector, seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist to join a dynamic manufacturing team. This role is crucial for producing high-precision aerospace components. As a Manual Machinist, you will operate various manual machining equipment to fabricate and modify parts used in the aerospace industry, ensuring strict adherence to quality standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, grinders, and other machinery to produce precision aerospace components.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining operations and sequence.
* Perform measurements using a variety of precision instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
* Ensure all machined parts meet the required tolerances and quality standards, making adjustments as needed.
* Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications using gauges, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and company policies.
* Collaborate with engineers and other team members to solve machining-related challenges and improve production processes.
* Maintain machinery and equipment in good working condition by performing regular maintenance and identifying issues early.
* Document production processes and any issues encountered, ensuring traceability for compliance and quality control purposes.
* Assist with inventory control and material handling to ensure the availability of necessary raw materials.
Qualifications:
* Technical training or certification in machining is preferred.
* Proven experience as a manual machinist, ideally in an aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of manual machining tools, including lathes, grinders, and related equipment.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
* Proficient in the use of measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to achieve high-precision results.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Familiarity with aerospace materials, such as aluminum and titanium, is a plus.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
* Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude toward safety and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
* Standing, bending, and working with tools and machinery for long hours.
* Ability to work in compliance with safety standards and use protective equipment when necessary.
