We have a current opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor on a contract basis. This will be a site-based position based out of Huddersfield predominantly.
I am looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a civils background, who has worked in a rail environment and on rail projects, to work on a fast-paced, extremely large-scale project in the heart of West Yorkshire.
It will be a predominantly site/office-based role in Yorkshire, so the ideal candidate will be local and able to commute to site; however, if you are the right person, the client will offer a lodge relief payment of £355 per week before deductions.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy.
2. Understand and ensure compliance with Company Procedures and Policies.
3. Maintain effective communications with all disciplines within the Project and the Company business.
4. Supervise and mentor junior staff members within the commercial structure.
5. Subcontract Procurement - produce subcontract enquiry documentation, issue tender enquiries, analyse tenders and compile subcontract order documents for execution.
6. Commercial management of subcontractors including timely processing of payments, obtaining final account agreements, and resolving issues by negotiation, when appropriate.
7. Assist with the production of monthly/quarterly cost reports including CVRs, forecasts and cash flow forecasts and supporting the application for payment process.
8. Identify change, evaluate including measurement and cost to support budget management process.
Who are we looking for -
The following are necessary requirements:
1. Previous experience on civil engineering schemes.
2. Formal relevant qualifications.
3. Good communication skills.
4. Good IT skills.
5. Collaborative behaviour.
6. Experience of ICC / NEC forms of Contract.
The following are desirable requirements:
1. Experience of target price contracts.
2. Experience of working on alliances or joint ventures.
3. Experience in rail.
4. Mentoring experience.
5. Hold or working towards professional accreditation with CICES or RICS.
This is a long-term freelance opportunity; it will be working inside IR35, but rates are negotiable.
Senior Quantity Surveyor Rate CIRCA - £450 - £525 DOE (to be discussed).
Start date - ASAP.
