We are seeking an experienced and proactive Design Coordinator to manage the design aspects of construction projects. In this role, you will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other design professionals to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations. You will be responsible for coordinating design efforts, reviewing and approving designs, and ensuring that all design elements comply with building regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate the integration of all design elements by coordinating the efforts of architects, engineers, and other design professionals to ensure the project’s design is cohesive and meets the client's vision and technical requirements.
Review, evaluate, and approve design drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Act as the primary liaison between the design team, clients, and stakeholders. Ensure the design aligns with client expectations and communicates effectively any necessary adjustments or changes to the design.
Ensure that the construction design complies with all relevant health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards throughout the project’s life cycle.
Assist in the development of budgets and schedules for the design phase, ensuring that design milestones are met within budgetary constraints and deadlines.
Identify design or technical challenges that may arise during the construction phase and collaborate with the project team to develop solutions and mitigate any issues.
Review and evaluate change requests to determine their impact on project scope, budget, and schedule. Ensure changes are implemented in line with project requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all design-related activities.
Provide regular status reports to the project manager and other stakeholders regarding design progress and issues.
Provide ongoing technical guidance and design information to the construction team during the construction phase to ensure smooth implementation of the design.
Participate in project closeout activities, including conducting final inspections, preparing final reports, and ensuring all design documentation is complete and compliant. Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in construction design coordination or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and design teams.
Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to solve complex design issues and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
