Job summary Secondment until 31 March 2026. We are seeking a Regional Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) to join our team, supporting mental health services across Wales. This position will complement an existing team of two, working collaboratively with national stakeholders to expand and enhance practice-based learning opportunities for Allied Health Professional (AHP) students in mental health settings. We welcome applications from Allied Health Professionals and Nurses with experience in education and/or facilitating practice-based learning for Allied Health Professional students. In this role, you will work closely with the HEIW Head of Placement Experience and Improvement, as well as HEIW leads involved in implementing the Strategic Mental Health Workforce Plan for Health and Social Care (2022) Your work will contribute to fostering a motivated and valued health and social care workforce, by advancing the ambitions for a broader range of practice-based learning opportunities across the four pillars of practice. This includes the development of interprofessional education in mental health settings. This post is being offered as a secondment opportunity only. This post is for a fixed secondment period but may be extended or made permanent at the end of the secondment period depending on available funding and business requirement Main duties of the job In partnership with the existing team, this role will focus on strategically expanding practice learning opportunities by engaging with HEIW, Welsh universities, mental health service leaders, practice learning environment staff, health boards, independent and charity sectors, students and other key stakeholders. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders to develop placement opportunities that align with governance standards, ensuring high-quality and sustainable learning experiences. It will also include overseeing day-to-day operations to support Allied Health Professional students and evaluating their placement experiences. The post holder will work autonomously, making informed decisions on complex, multifaceted issues where no established precedents may exist. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. This post is secondment until 31/03/2026 due to funding.
