Job Description:
The Category Development Manager will be part of the Category Development and Shopper Marketing team within the Sales function. Reporting to the Demand Accelerator Controller, you will collaborate with various departments to achieve the Coffee Category goals.
This role involves leading category vision & strategy, analyzing shopper behavior, conducting range reviews, and developing customer-specific category plans in partnership with customers, National Account Managers, and Sales Controllers.
You will need strong data analysis skills to extract insights and communicate them effectively to customers across all store formats, including convenience, supermarket, hypermarket, and online platforms.
You will manage relationships with two priority customers (Top 4 grocery retailers).
Responsibilities include:
External:
* Building trusted relationships with customers to make JDE their preferred supplier.
* Aligning the JDE Category Vision with customer strategies to foster long-term growth.
* Analyzing promotions and advising on effectiveness and future strategies.
* Recommending distribution and assortment strategies, including planogram development.
* Supporting range reviews and performance evaluations to optimize sales and profit.
* Delivering quarterly Product Quadrant Analyses and market insights reports.
Internal (for your customers):
* Managing the customer range review calendar and coordinating with marketing and stakeholders.
* Implementing NPDs and re-launches to maximize distribution and market share.
* Contributing to performance reporting and business planning processes.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 4 years of experience in Category Development, Buying, or Account Management within FMCG.
* Deep understanding of UK retail shoppers and customer dynamics.
* Experience working cross-functionally across sales and marketing teams.
* Strong knowledge of consumer and brand strategies.
* Proficiency with information tools like Nielsen, IRI, Kantar, Dunnhumby, etc.
* Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
* Ability to analyze numbers and communicate insights clearly.
* Self-motivated, disciplined, and influential.
* Strong presentation skills, credible with senior management and clients.
* Degree educated or equivalent.
* Willingness to travel for customer meetings.
* Fluent in English and authorized to work in the UK without sponsorship.
