We are looking for a part-time Phlebotomist with excellent clinical, communication, and service skills to join our friendly Nursing Team.
Main duties of the job
Typical duties include venepuncture, ICE forms, sample handling, and updating patient records. Please see the Job Description for more details.
Candidates must be service-minded, driven to help others, and make the patient experience as straightforward as possible. Confidence in talking to patients with diverse needs is required, and excellent communication skills are essential. It is essential to be organised, efficient, adaptable, and flexible in a fast-paced working environment.
Applicants should be enthusiastic, professional, and ideally have experience of working in a busy GP surgery using SystmOne. In addition to a competitive salary, you will also be enrolled in the NHS Pension Scheme. Training and ongoing development support the role.
About us
Paston Surgery serves a population of over 6500 patients in North Walsham and the surrounding area. A Phlebotomist is an essential part of our Nursing Team and supports other clinical staff and practice management.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
* Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
* Performing venipuncture in accordance with practice protocols
* Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical IT system
* The correct labelling, packaging, and storing of samples
* Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
* Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
* Maintaining effective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff
* Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient-related matters
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Phlebotomist may be requested to:
* Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
* Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
* Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
* Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
