Role: Cover Supervisor Location: Torbay Contract: Flexible Start: January 2025 Salary: £105 - £125 per day (depending on experience) Long-Term Teachers is seeking a dedicated and adaptable cover supervisor to work on behalf of a fantastic secondary special school. This role is pivotal in providing essential classroom support, ensuring continuity of education during teacher absences, and may occasionally involve additional teaching assistant (TA) duties when required. About the school: The school delivers high-quality education for students aged 11-16 with diverse additional needs, primarily focusing on social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Many students have not thrived in mainstream education and the school’s nurturing environment aims to foster both academic and personal growth. Your role as a supply teacher will be instrumental in making a meaningful impact on their development. Key responsibilities: Deliver pre-planned lessons to classes during teacher absences Providing a supportive and engaging learning environment Occasionally assisting with TA duties to support individual or group needs Managing behaviour effectively, ensuring a positive classroom environment Adapting to different situations with patience and enthusiasm What we’re looking for: Preferred: Previous experience in a secondary school environment Essential: Experience of working with individuals with SEMH needs Full time availability (Monday to Friday) Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle challenging behaviours Patience, resilience, flexibility and a genuine passion for supporting young people A valid UK drivers licence and access to your own car Why work with us: Personalised approach: we provide guidance and support from the very beginning.
