As part of our ambitious growth strategy, we are looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer to be based at our Nottingham office. You can expect to become involved in: A wide range of projects across sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, defence and infrastructure. Your core duties will include: Ensuring high quality technical delivery of projects Ensuring commercial success of projects within their control through effective discipline project control. Minimising Health and safety risks in all aspects of structural discipline and input to the wider project health and safety assessment. Ensuring appropriate responsibility level to deliver projects. Assisting in winning new work and maintains existing relationships. Encouraging, motivating and effectively managing personnel to enhance discipline performance, help to establish a positive sub-culture within the discipline that enhances the overarching company culture and ensures a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all. Enhancing Pick Everard's profile within the construction industry. Managing and maintaining existing policies and procedures. Developing and implementing new initiatives to improve the operation of the discipline. Ensuring collaborative working within discipline, wider team and client base. Undertaking line management duties and provide pastoral care to the team(s) assigned to you on a day to day basis. In order to be considered for this role, you must have: Exceptional Structural Engineering knowledge with a deep understanding of key principles embedded in theory and practice, with a proactive approach to problem solving. Excellent verbal communication. An ability to communicate ideas, and effectively work with clients, members of the design team, and manage/supervise/mentor employees. Experience relevant to UK practice and knowledge of UK design standards, codes of practice and methods of construction. Familiarity with structural engineering modelling, analysis, and design software (Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds and STAAD Pro, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360). The ability and willingness to manage/supervise/mentor employees. In order to stand out from the crowd, it is desirable for you to have: Chartered membership of ICE or IStructE The motivation to undertake relevant CPD and to increase skills and knowledge. Experience in day-to-day control of resourcing, programming, planning and costs. Exhibit effective team management skills.
