Job Description – Hospitality and Events Team About the Team The Hospitality and Events Team encompasses all aspects of DUSA, ranging across the organisation to ensure all our students are always in the know. The customer journey is at the heart of everything you do as part of this team and DUSA as an organisation. The Hospitality and Events Team provides a wide range of opportunities – from the set-up and delivery of an event, to welcoming the customers and promoting our events, to looking working within the food and beverage areas of our operations, to taking on projects to increase student engagement and enhance student experience. You’ll be joining a versatile team that looks after the customer journey from beginning to end, and that puts student experience at its core, with roles working across the organisation. The Hospitality and Events Team works across many venues and different types of events. You will be provided with the training and the opportunity to be involved in the various areas of the department. At DUSA, one of our core objectives is to enhance and develop your professional portfolio, we do this by giving each member the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team and to follow a clear progression path monitored by training and development. The Role To provide an excellent guest experience in everything you do. To have a knowledge of DUSA’s services and products. To welcome customers at entry, serve customers, assist customers and provide friendly customer service and a safe environment within all areas of DUSA. To provide support at functions and events, from venue set-up to the running of the event. Be able to build and maintain effective working relationships whilst promoting the DUSA culture and values. To assist staff from other departments if required and any other duties that may reasonably be expected by the management team. To prepare and serve food & drinks in line with DUSA House Rules, ensuring licensing compliance is adhered to. To provide bar/glass collection/cleaning support and general housekeeping and hygiene tasks as required. To manage reception during the daytime, answering student queries and signposting to the relative service. To take on supporting administrative tasks. To take active ownership in promoting student engagement by creating content around events and campaigns. The Person As a candidate we will be looking for you to have a friendly positive attitude, be able to take initiative and maintain a strong work ethic throughout busy shifts. As the needs of the organisation are so diverse, we require our staff to be dynamic and approachable in various situations. Finally, we require our staff to be flexible regarding working hours as we operate throughout the year in many different spaces and times. Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience Customer service training or experience desirable. Hours of Work Variable hours – No more than 20 hours per week to avoid compromising academic commitment for students, unless an exemption is granted. Salary DUSA is a Real Living Wage Employer, and the current hourly rate is £12 per hour. No additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.
