Bournemouth School for Girls is an 11-18 selective girls’ Grammar School and Sixth Form in the heart of Bournemouth. BSG currently has 1268 students on roll which includes those in our Sixth Form. It provides students with extensive academic and extra-curricular activities from Year 7 to Year 13 (the majority of students remain in the school for 6th form study). The school is academically successful and is 8th highest in England’s Southwest region according to the latest Sunday Times Parent Power Survey. The school was inspected by Ofsted in May 2024 and judged to be outstanding in all areas. We are seeking a dynamic and academically confident Deputy Head of Science who can inspire colleagues and support the Head of Department in delivering exceptional teaching and learning across our large and thriving department. The successful candidate will also take a leading role in overseeing our Chemistry provision.
The Science Department comprises seventeen staff in total, with fourteen teaching staff and three full time laboratory technicians. We have the benefit of a wide range of materials to support teaching and learning, allowing lessons to be interactive and students to be challenged. Laboratories have had new Promethean panels installed to enhance the quality of presentation. The ideal candidate will be a teacher with a passion for science who can bring out the best in our staff and students.
