Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enrich the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.
Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.
We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over national and regional awards!
We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.
Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
1. We are aged from 47 all the way to 55 so have lots of life experience, routines and important parts of our lives.
2. We each have some communication difficulties which sometimes leads us to become anxious if you do not understand what our presentation or behaviours mean. These could include both physical and verbal signs.
3. Staff are trained in mandatory care skills such as first aid. New staff are buddied up with experienced staff to ensure they get to know our routines, likes and preferences, and ways of speaking and non-verbal communication. This can take some time.
What is important to us
1. To have our house just how we want it, and have a team who like to get the best of everything for us and support us to do just that in every way.
2. We love a good film with sweets, pop, vodka and beer. Not to mention X Factor, Dancing on Ice and a bit of Corrie. But favouring night is Chinese or kebab on Saturday night.
I, Jill, love lots of blankets around me, being warm and having cosy slippers on, play hide and seek with my top. I love a good foot massage and lying on the sofa with my feet up. My favourite place is the beach for fish and chips with sea air! Finished with some tea and cake at the café! Give me a spoon to mix up a crispy cake or two; I will help clean the bowl (not using washing up liquid!).
I, Ayser, love my structure. I love sweets, crisps and chocolate.
I love to bake pies and cakes and of course lick the bowl! I love a coffee and biscuit at Costa and I care about my housemates, making them drinks and snacks! I am a sun worshiper and love to spend hours in the sun.
I, Michael, love a good foot spa and a bag of crisps. Nothing beats a garden sunshine and sunbathing day with refreshing Guinness or lager and ice lollies.
I love music and especially like John Denver and Westlife. I like my space and quiet time and do not like dogs!
1. We live in a beautiful two-storey house on an estate in Fishburn. We have a beautiful bedroom each, Michael's was converted from a double garage to a man cave bedroom and a guest bedroom for the sleep-in staff to stay in.
2. We have a sensory room, kitchen, conservatory and shared laundry, bathroom and small toilet.
3. All of the rooms are tailored to all of our tastes and needs, from unicorns, birds to plain colours and stripey curtains.
4. Our front garden is lawn and trees to line the drive.
5. Our back garden has a shed which Michael stores tools and other DIY stuff in and a summer house which I, Ayser, bought but don’t go in as much now.
6. Jill, I love to sit on Michael's swing or the Jack and Jill (twin) chairs.
7. Michael, I have a swing which I don’t mind the other guys using sometimes, but love to sit on it in peace too.
8. Ayser, well I love a blanket and sunbathe on the well-kept lawns.
9. There is a poly tunnel which we grow produce and we have had some beautiful tomatoes, leeks, garlic and even a lino plant. You should see our pictures!
10. We have a shared lounge where we have a TV and Netflix.
11. And the kitchen, well, the heart of the house of course we love food!
12. We like to watch, stir, make and bake!
13. Our house is on an estate called Manor Park in a mining village called Fishburn.
14. We send our neighbors a card and maybe a drawn picture at Christmas and deliver this.
15. We have a driveway for 3 cars at the front of the house.
16. We have 1:1 from 8 am - 10 pm and a shared night/sleeping duty. Then we have flexible hours for 2:1 community activities for 10 am - 9 pm depending on or later/earlier if needed for other activities. We need staff to be able to work around these shift patterns as we need full flexibility in our needs and wishes.
17. We have various needs which you need training to understand more including learning disabilities, autism and mental health.
18. We need you to have training in things like safeguarding to keep us safe from harm. Medication to enable us to have medication administered safely and on time. We like staff to be able and willing to learn new skills and have lots of patience and care.
Your values: We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognize that not everyone that would be perfect for the role will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; from people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
Naturally, it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to us, so we look for people with:
* Patience
* Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
* A strong work ethic
* Reliability
* Honesty
* Determination
* A problem solver
* Resilience
