Assistant Location Accountant - The Excel

Overall Purpose of the Role:
To provide essential support to the Location Accountant and Finance Business Partner in ensuring effective financial management within the organisation. This involves analysing the financial performance of on-site teams to identify strengths and weaknesses, assisting in driving performance improvements through cost-saving initiatives and revenue optimization strategies, and monitoring the financial impact of change initiatives. Additionally, the Assistant LA handles various financial administrative tasks, such as processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports, to maintain accurate financial records.
More about the role:
1. Assist in P+L reporting by gathering relevant financial data and preparing reports.
2. Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvement.
3. Update and collect the most recent data for forecasting to support accurate financial planning.
4. Assist in the issuance of shopping baskets for Op’s Team and collaborate closely with the on-site team to analyse weekly performances.
5. Work closely with departments to support the delivery of accurate stocktakes and recording of interdepartmental transfers, maintaining inventory accuracy.
6. Consolidate EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) data for comprehensive financial analysis.
7. Train unit teams to increase financial awareness and adherence to control procedures.
8. Collaborate with the Location Accountant to improve financial performance through strategic initiatives and process enhancements.
9. Overlook invoices in an accurate manner to facilitate smooth financial operations.
10. Maintain accurate financial records by journalizing transactions and reconciling accounts.
11. Control of purchase ledger and orders on Foodbuy.
12. Assist with month end reconciliation.
13. Creation of weekly variable labour forecasting document and reconciliation of weekly variable labour.
14. Ensuring variable labour planners are completed in the expected timeframe and reporting on any variances to these planners on a weekly basis.
15. Completion of client billing and detailed analysis around “Other Income” Sales.
Who you are:
1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a financial role.
2. Experience in the catering industry is an advantage.
3. Working towards a recognised Accountancy qualification.
4. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
6. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.
7. Organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
8. Experience in supporting change initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional teams is desirable.
9. Proactive and collaborative approach with a keen attention to detail.
10. Commitment to accuracy in financial record-keeping.
11. Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
12. Passion for contributing to the overall success of the organization through strong financial management practices.
