You possess a minimum of an HNC/HND or higher-level qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a similar discipline. Your expertise includes experience managing staff, delivering project feasibility studies, and flood investigations. You have strong proficiency in CAD and GIS systems, and ideally, experience with site supervision, hydraulic modeling, and asset management. As a collaborative and clear communicator, you build strong partnerships and manage resources effectively. A commitment to service standards and accountability is in your professional ethos, along with a willingness to engage with ongoing changes in the field. You hold a valid UK driving licence, enabling you to travel independently to fulfill this role. What the Job Involves As a Senior Engineer within the Flood Risk Management Team, you will play a vital role in managing local flood risk for 240,000 residents in high-risk areas. Your responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing strategies and regulations tied to the Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood Risk Regulations 2009, and Flood and Water Management Act 2010. You will oversee a diverse range of flood management activities, evaluate planning applications, and manage both capital projects and asset management. This role also requires you to plan and conduct site investigations, manage contracts, and act as a Tips Supervisor under the Mines and Quarries (Tips) Act. You will work towards achieving targets outlined in the Strategic Projects Section Business Plan, ensuring compliance with legislation and enhancing standards for service users. Additionally, you will contribute to climate change initiatives and carbon reduction targets and respond to inquiries and service requests adhering to Council policies.
