About Us:
Our client is a leading player in the food manufacturing industry, known for their commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Based in East Kilbride, they are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join their procurement team. This role is key to ensuring that they source the best quality ingredients and materials to maintain their high standards of production.
The Role:
As a Buyer in their team, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process of ingredients, packaging, and other materials, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining cost efficiency. You will work closely with suppliers, production teams, and other departments to make sure that all procurement activities align with the operational needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the sourcing, purchasing, and supply of materials, including ingredients, packaging, and consumables, for production.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best terms and ensure consistent quality and delivery.
3. Monitor market trends, including pricing, availability, and quality, to make informed purchasing decisions.
4. Work closely with the production and operations teams to ensure that supply levels meet demand and avoid any interruptions in the manufacturing process.
5. Identify and develop new supplier opportunities to improve cost efficiencies or quality standards.
6. Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring optimal inventory control and reducing waste.
7. Support the implementation of sustainability and cost-saving initiatives.
8. Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures, including health, safety, and quality standards.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Proven experience in a buyer or procurement role, ideally within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
2. Strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of purchasing processes.
3. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
4. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with both internal teams and external suppliers.
5. Analytical mindset with a focus on cost control and operational efficiency.
6. A proactive, problem-solving approach and a keen attention to detail.
7. Experience with procurement software and systems (desirable but not essential).
