Salary
Competitive starting salary range from £25,276 up to £27,395 per annum (dependent upon experience) + London Allowance with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

The Role
Reporting to the Senior Technician, you will be tasked with the day-to-day operation of the laboratory facilities at CU London Dagenham providing support to fellow technicians, students and academic staff with the preparation of materials and equipment for practical classes to ensure that all students receive an excellent experience.
Other responsibilities of the role include:
1. Preparing experiments and setup for teaching sessions;
2. Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring proper calibration and operation;
3. Assisting with the preparation of reagents and solutions;
4. Following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment;
5. Collaborating with team members to achieve project goals and deadlines;
6. Completing and compiling appropriate risk assessments and health and safety forms.
Our Successful Candidate
You will be a highly motivated and passionate technician and be able to communicate with the Health & Life Science team and students. Working under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Technician, the role involves liaising with staff and students as necessary, to provide specific expertise and support for practical activities. It will involve working with specialist equipment, chemicals, and microbes, and ensuring a highly beneficial environment is provided for students to optimise learning, so good knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations is essential.
Additional attributes that would be essential include:
1. Being familiar with laboratory equipment and instrumentation;
2. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
3. Commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant laboratory environment and develop new laboratory protocols for teaching sessions aimed at Level 3-6 students.
You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a minimum of grade C in Maths and English. You will also hold a HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline and have undertaken the relevant Lab and Associated Technical Activities professional qualification.
