Workforce Strategy Manager
A leading player in the UK's rail freight industry, is looking for a highly skilled Workforce Strategy Manager to take ownership of workforce data analysis and strategy development.
This role is key in shaping workforce planning, optimizing operational efficiency, and ensuring the right resources are in place at the right time. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong data management background, comfortable working with stakeholders to align data-driven insights with company goals.
This role can be based from Crewe, Manchester, Leeds, Ferrybridge or York.
The key responsibilities for this Workforce Strategy Manager role are:
* Conduct in-depth analysis of workforce data, identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities to enhance workforce productivity and performance. Utilize analytical tools and techniques to interpret data related to employee turnover, capacity, skills gaps, and operational needs.
* Develop and implement data models to forecast workforce requirements and optimize resource planning. Ensure the models are flexible and scalable, aligned with business objectives and growth projections.
* Oversee the management and integrity of workforce data, ensuring that information is accurate, up-to-date, and securely stored. Implement data management practices to ensure consistency across multiple systems and departments.
* Work closely with senior leaders, HR, and operational teams to ensure workforce planning aligns with business strategies and operational needs. Regularly consult with internal stakeholders to gather feedback and refine workforce plans.
* Produce and present detailed reports on workforce performance, capacity planning, and efficiency metrics. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management for data-driven decision-making.
* Support the creation of long-term workforce strategies based on insights gathered through data analysis. Recommend improvements in staffing, training, and resource allocation to meet current and future operational demands.
* Utilize and create data models to continuously assess and optimize workforce structures, ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness in line with business goals.
* Assist in driving organizational change initiatives by ensuring workforce strategies support any shifts in business priorities, processes, or operational structures.
* Ensure workforce strategies and data management practices comply with legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Experience and skills required for this Workforce Strategy Manager role are:
* Proven experience in workforce strategy, workforce planning, or data management roles, particularly in rail freight, logistics, or transportation industries.
* Strong background in data analysis, data modeling, and data management. Experience with workforce analytics tools, reporting platforms, and modeling software (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
* Ability to collaborate with and present data-driven insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between data strategies and business goals.
* Experience in developing strategic workforce plans, including forecasting, resource allocation, and workforce optimization.
* High attention to data accuracy, quality, and consistency, with a proven ability to manage complex datasets across multiple platforms.
* Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from data and communicate findings clearly.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data in an easily understandable manner.
* A background within rail would be beneficial but isn't essential.
