We are excited to announce the opening of our brand-new SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Centre, and we are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to lead this important provision.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead the SEMH Centre at Ellowes Hall. You will play a key role in establishing and developing the Centre, working collaboratively with teachers, professional services staff, and external professionals to ensure the success and wellbeing of students who need additional support in managing their social, emotional, and mental health.
As the Head of SEMH Centre, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in their education. You will lead a dedicated team, implement tailored support strategies, and work with families and external agencies to promote the wellbeing of our students.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the SEMH Centre, providing effective support to students with complex emotional and social needs.
2. Develop individualised learning plans to meet the specific needs of students.
3. Work closely with school leadership to ensure the Centre’s activities align with the school’s overall vision.
4. Provide guidance and support to a team of staff, including teaching and professional services staff, to deliver high-quality SEMH support.
5. Engage with parents and carers, maintaining regular communication to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
6. Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students feel supported and valued.
7. Collaborate with external agencies, ensuring seamless support for students and their families.
8. Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, using data to inform interventions and ensure continuous improvement.
Person Specification
We are seeking an individual with a strong passion for supporting students with SEMH needs, and who can bring both leadership and expertise to our new Centre. Whether you are a teacher with experience in SEMH, or a professional services staff member with a background in mental health or social work, we welcome applicants who have:
1. Experience in working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
2. A strong understanding of SEMH challenges and the ability to lead effective interventions.
3. The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
4. Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
5. A collaborative, proactive approach to problem-solving and team working.
6. A commitment to supporting the wellbeing and development of all students.
7. Relevant qualifications and experience in education, mental health, social work, or related fields.
Successful applicants will receive in-house training for the first two weeks.
