Quantity Surveyor Location: Newtownards Hours of work: Monday - Friday / 9am - 5pm (37 hours p/w) Salary: £18.06 p/h Duration: Temporary ongoing We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a large public sector organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring the effective commercial management of the organisation's assets. You will oversee high-quality planned works and compliance-related investments while ensuring affordability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Assist in the development of specifications, drawings, and bills of quantities to facilitate tendering and procurement processes. Provide expert guidance on contract terms and conditions to manage the orginisations commercial risk effectively. Manage investment budgets, conduct benchmarking reviews, and provide financial forecasting. Evaluate tenders, check documentation, and administer contracts to ensure value for money. Collaborate with contractors and consultants to monitor project progress and resolve issues. Authorise work instructions and invoices within designated approval levels. Ensure compliance with the orginisations policies, data protection regulations, and health and safety requirements. Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and contribute to stock and option appraisals. Essential Criteria: A degree (or equivalent Level 6 qualification) in a Building/Construction related discipline with at least 1 year's relevant experience. OR A BTEC Higher (or equivalent Level 5 qualification) in a Building/Construction related discipline with at least 2 years' relevant experience. OR Equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning with at least 3 years' relevant experience in a Building/Construction function. Experience Requirements: A minimum of 1 year's experience in: Commercial management of a value-for-money construction programme. Managing budgets and financial controls in NEC 3/4 construction contracts. Demonstrable experience in at least 2 of the following areas: Performance monitoring and benchmarking. Producing and monitoring performance reports. Providing technical advice on construction contracts. Implementing and monitoring policies and compliance. Managing projects to ensure they meet targets and standards.
