Our family support and safeguarding teams are multi-disciplinary teams offering support to children and their families alongside social workers and early help case managers. We have a vacancy for an advanced practitioner in the Newark family support and safeguarding team.
The team consists of experienced social workers, newly qualified social workers, and family support workers, and regularly welcomes students into the team.
As an advanced practitioner, you will be the allocated social worker for a limited number of children with complex family circumstances. Under the direction of the Team Manager, you will co-work and provide support to social workers to enhance their knowledge and skills in high-quality assessment, analysis, and risk management. You will also have supervisory responsibility for a small number of alternatively qualified staff and social work apprentices in the team and will support reflective and group supervision for other social workers.
You will need to have 3 years of post-qualifying experience in children’s social care and experience in mentoring and supervising others. The family support and safeguarding teams work with children supported by child in need and child protection plans, as well as children who are looked after by alternative carers, including foster carers and kinship carers. The teams also work with families within pre-proceedings and care proceedings, so a sound knowledge and experience of court work is required.
The team is well supported by business support colleagues and dedicated social work support officers, enabling social workers to spend more time with the children and their families.
Nottinghamshire offers a wide range of training, and you will receive regular supervision and development opportunities to further your career.
Appointment to this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full-time posts, both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
