The role will be responsible for coordinating the validation & verification of new electrical & electronic systems into the Excavator product range. Working as part of the systems engineering team, you will co-ordinate the definition, interpretation and development of the validation and verification requirements to ensure a robust electrical/electronic system is achieved.
This role will involve coordinating the validation and verification activity across a range of products with rationalization and commonality as one of the main objectives, while pushing new technologies, tool chain and process to enhance the testing process.
As a Senior Engineer in validation & verification, you will:
1. Write the test plans and coordinate the delivery of the system design.
2. Coordinate the fleet of machines to ensure they are up to date with the latest parts, software and configurations.
3. Record defects and evidence containment and root cause against each.
4. Prepare the system level and module level test specifications in conjunction with developing test methods to demonstrate how the customer requirements will be robustly satisfied and approved to the proposed design through validation and verification activity.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Thrive in a fast agile environment, developing prototype solutions to validate proof of concept ideas.
2. Define the test plans to ensure robust V&V activity can be performed.
3. Co-ordinate machine parts, software and setup, ensuring the latest design solutions are being robustly tested.
4. Ensure robust and reliable ECU communication protocols are followed in line with industry best practice (SAE J1939, Ethernet).
5. Be able to read electronic schematic diagrams and their electrical wiring diagram counterpart.
6. Ensure design for manufacture is considered, both relating to build of the programming and parameter configuration of the selected solution.
7. Have a keen interest in monitoring the health and status of the system, via onboard diagnostic protocols or over the air communication.
8. Sound record keeping techniques, of all designs, revisions and related updates.
9. Drive re-use of components and approaches.

4. Sound base knowledge of low level firmware integration i.e., bootloader through to application layer and parameter configuration.
5. Familiar with CAN bus protocols.
6. Happy to use different types of lab equipment to monitor system behaviour i.e., CAN, frequencies, PWM and basic operation.
7. Awareness of functional safety and security impact on software development.
8. Knowledge of different CAN bus protocols i.e., CANOpen, J1939, ISO14229, ISO14230.
9. Working knowledge of Software development techniques (V Model and functional safety).
10. Experience in the completion of different VnV techniques White/Grey/Black box testing.
11. Comfortable working with various electronic lab tools i.e., Spectrum analyser, Oscilloscope, Signal Generators, DC power supplies.
12. Comfortable working with serial tools, Bluetooth and over the air diagnostics.
13. A good understanding of design verification processes (DVPSOR).
14. Comfortable supporting and completing cause and effect analysis – Risk Assessments, FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa/fishbone.
