Group HSE Director Flexible location Drax Power Station, Selby, London Office, Glasgow Office Permanent, full time We’re now recruiting a Group HSE Director to join Drax. In this key role, you’ll provide oversight and subject matter expertise for all HSE activities across the Drax Group. This role cover will require travel across all offices and sites as needed. About the role As Group HSE Director, you’ll be responsible for setting the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy Frameworks and Standards that are fit for purpose for the differing generating technologies, businesses and regions at Drax. You’ll ensure the delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and oversight across the Group, creating an effective HSE governance capability to monitor performance and verify standards of compliance. This role will also set the overall direction for the Drax group in terms of HSE performance. This will encompass personal or workplace safety, process safety and environmental performance. You’ll be accountable for establishing an HSE improvement strategy, a refresh of the OneSafeDrax vision, management of groupwide HSE internal audit and creating suitable management system components to develop oversight and governance of the HSE risks across the company. Who we’re looking for The successful candidate will have significant leadership experience, specifically within HSE. You’ll also have a background working within a highly regulated, capital-intensive process industry, including operations, maintenance, engineering and project management. Experience operating within a PLC/Listed business at senior Executive level is strongly preferred with the ability to build credible relationships with ExCom and Board members a requirement of the role. Ideally, you’ll be educated to degree level in a technical or scientific discipline and ideally hold a postgraduate qualification in management or business. This is not prescriptive, however, and candidates with different qualifications and with relevant experience will be considered on merit. Experience of managing large-scale cultural transformation would be advantageous. You’ll demonstrate interpersonal skills to develop effective relationships across the business, coupled with exceptional communication and influencing skills at all levels.
