The Opportunity
Due to project increases, a fantastic contract assignment has arisen to support various major upgrades and new buildings. We are looking for several proven Senior Civil/Structural Engineers to support the design aspect of these nuclear projects. If you have worked in this industry or other highly regulated industries and can obtain security clearance, we are very keen to hear from you.
Employment Type: Contract
This role has been deemed inside IR35.
Location: Chester | Hybrid
Your Duties and Responsibilities
1. Produce design deliverables (assumption notes, technical specifications, calculation notes, etc).
2. Perform design and analysis tasks as necessary.
3. Review and justify design decisions to the Office of Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
4. Conduct technical verifications of civil engineering documents.
5. Create and maintain CDM Designers Risk Registers and associated CDM deliverables.
6. Deliver design inputs to projects to specification and to time with minimal recourse to the Engineering Manager.
You Will Have the Following Qualifications & Experience
1. Degree educated in civil and/or structural engineering, working towards chartership with ICE or IStructE.
2. Design office experience with reinforced concrete and steel structures.
3. Experience using finite element modelling software and associated post-processing software, with experience in validation and verification of modelling tools and their outputs.
4. Design experience in a nuclear context (or similar highly regulated context).
5. Knowledge of Eurocodes related to civil engineering and understanding of American codes of practice.
6. Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
7. Self-starter with a professional approach and a technical background.
It’s Great If You Also Have the Following
1. Incorporated or Chartered status, or an action plan in place to achieve one of these.
2. Direct experience of Nuclear industry projects.
