We are searching for an experienced Associate to join our Special Investigations team in London. Our Special Investigations team focuses on contentious insolvency and fraud investigations with a demonstrated history of recovering assets from both the UK and overseas.
We deal with cross-border issues, complex litigation, and numerous contentious issues, as well as liquidations and high-profile bankruptcies.
You will need to be analytical minded with report writing experience as well as having strong interpersonal and management skills, to profitably manage a large portfolio of cases, ensuring both excellent client service and making a significant contribution towards the overall future development and success of the team, office, and firm.
Responsibilities
* Plan assignments in accordance with the Firm's standard procedures and relevant statutory and extra statutory obligations, and to confirm arrangements with the client, company, or appointer, including likely costs and billing arrangements.
* To manage a large portfolio of insolvency cases, including compulsory liquidations, creditors voluntary liquidations, and bankruptcies.
* To brief staff (including those based in other offices working on the assignment) on cases, to supervise and control the completion of work and to undertake ‘on the job' training and appraisals where appropriate.
* To conduct detailed analysis of financial information and other records, to identify issues, assets, and antecedent transactions including misfeasance, transactions at undervalue, and breach of duty claims.
* To ensure that the job is completed within budget, and to discuss all material points arising with the assignment director or partner immediately, particularly in relation to any anticipated overruns or significant changes in likely outcome.
* To liaise with third parties and stakeholders, including directors and creditors throughout the appointment/assignment. The role will include the briefing of legal advisors and close working with them during litigation matters.
* To ensure that appropriate liaison takes place with other internal departments on cases as and when required, and to develop a detailed knowledge of the firm's specialist services.
* Perform the firm's senior staff review procedures, ensuring that all points raised are adequately and promptly actioned.
* Monitor assignments to establish and achieve the earliest and most efficient completion of the appointment. To closely monitor cases on their profitability and recoverability of work in progress, and to identify billing opportunities on a timely basis.
* Maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses and to fulfil the Institute's CPE requirements, as required.
* Assist in recruitment, training, and marketing activities as required.
* Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, the title of the role, and its grading, as requested by the Head of Department.

Experience as an insolvency specialist in an investigation role. You will also need to have:
* Previous experience operating at manager level in a similar role is required.
* Proven experience in insolvency fraud investigation cases.
* Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable communicating with all levels.
* Proven experience in client handling and case management skills.
* Previous experience in managing, developing, and coaching team members.
* Demonstrable experience in litigation presenting cases for Court.
