Blackburn Starling & Co Ltd is looking for a dedicated Apprentice Tendering Estimating Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. Based at our Nottingham office, you will play a key role in the tendering of key projects, speaking with our key customers and overseeing project progression.

£14,722.50 a year

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Key Responsibilities:
· Effectively process enquiries to turn them into orders, in line with Company Policy.
· Manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines.
· Set targets, in agreement with the Tendering Lead, that fulfil the criteria required by the Company.
· Utilize the Company estimating system to create accurate tenders.
· Work collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring smooth processes and communication.
· Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the CRM system.
· Understand the conditions of the contract and ensure compliance throughout the tendering process.
· Stay up to date with new developments in our market and adjust strategies accordingly.
· Ensure all tenders are provided on time, in the appropriate format, and in compliance with Company Standards.
· Monitor progress against targets and make adjustments as necessary.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Engineering and Technical teams, to ensure seamless project delivery.
· Liaise with customers to address issues and provide technical support during the tendering process.
Apprentice Training Scheme
As part of the Apprentice Training Scheme, you will develop the following key competencies:
· Interpreting drawings and specifications and undertaking material take-offs.
· A strong working technical knowledge of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, including MCCs, control panels, control systems, and component manufacturers’ equipment.
· Familiarity with the company’s products and services.
· Skills to promote collaborative working and communicate effectively and professionally with internal personnel, external customers, consultants, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
· Ability to review and interpret electrical schematic and wiring diagrams.
· Understanding of specific control philosophies and system topologies.
· Adherence to the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).

Course contents
* Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.
* Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.
* Exercises proactivity and good judgement. Makes effective decisions based on sound reasoning and is able to deal with challenges in a mature way. Seeks advice of more experienced team members when appropriate.

You are required to come into the City Hub campus 1x Monday a month to join the other apprentices - you will be set work in this class to do over the month which will be marked and feedback given.
You will have one to ones every 4-6 weeks via Teams/and set tasks with the employer on teams or face to faceReview.
Meetings will take place with the assessor and the employer every 12 weeks, this is also either face to face or via teams.
