Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the well -established Oncology Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) service as a Band 6 Macmillan Oncology Breast Cancer CNS. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed individual to develop their knowledge and skill set and gain invaluable experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. You will work alongside and have support and guidance from the Band 7 CNS's leading the service. You will form an integral part of the wider multidisciplinary team in supporting patients diagnosed with breast cancer, and their families, throughout their cancer pathway. Candidates will need to have previous experience of working within the field of Oncology. Main duties of the job The post requires an accessible and responsive team member with clinical responsibility for patients diagnosed with breast cancers who have been referred to the oncology department for anti-cancer treatments. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be expected to provide high quality care to these patients and their significant others during and after their treatment and to refer on to other professionals for more specialist guidance, support, advice and counselling. The post holder will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team and liaise with these members accordingly to ensure that patients experience a seamless, high quality service. The CNS will need the ability to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice and seek guidance where necessary, to ensure that agreed standards, objectives and targets are met.
