The Opportunity
Exciting and rewarding opportunities have arisen at Heysham 2 Power Station to join our highly skilled and motivated engineering teams. There are multiple vacancies requiring highly motivated and qualified Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, Mechanical and Process Engineers.
At Heysham 2, the Engineers have a fundamental role in providing a strong technical conscience to the rest of the power station, identifying and escalating risks based on plant performance and developing standards both within and outside the company to improve the reliability of the power station plant systems.
Pay, Benefits and Culture
We are offering a starting salary of between £45,641 and £81,263 potentially rising to £95,993 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualification. What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Responsible Engineering Group Head, you will ensure that your assigned plant is maintained and modified in accordance with the Site Licence while reviewing and monitoring the plant systems under your control, initiating improvements to give high equipment reliability.
Roles and responsibilities also include:
1. Manage projects with varying complexity, leading diverse multi-disciplined teams.
2. As system manager, develop and maintain knowledge of the plant and systems with responsibility for equipment reliability using engineering and equipment reliability processes.
3. Ensure critical equipment is identified with correct preventative maintenance programmes in place to prevent unanticipated equipment failures.
4. Oversee System Health reviews, develop short to long-term engineering solutions, defining Maintenance Policy and Maintenance Schedule changes while remaining compliant with the site licence.
5. Monitor and evaluate system performance using feedback from Operations and Maintenance by conducting plant walk downs.
6. Ensure the station maintenance strategy is aligned with plant needs and adjustments are made to enhance Equipment Reliability.
7. Provide technical expertise and knowledge to troubleshooting activities ensuring robust corrective actions are in place to correct issues and prevent re-occurrence.
8. Actively participate in work planning processes to provide technical input to ensure prioritisation is based on criticality of equipment and its potential impact on plant performance.
Who you are
You’ll need a relevant HNC (or equivalent) in engineering, and holding or working towards a relevant degree and Chartered Engineer status may be an advantage.
A background in process or heavy industry may be beneficial, as would a background in nuclear power plant operations, engineering, or technical disciplines.
For electrical opportunities, experience with DC systems, UPS systems and/or inverter drives may be beneficial.
You’ll need to demonstrate a thorough and methodical approach to problem solving and have good organisational skills. You should be able to prioritise work, demonstrate balanced decision-making along with the ability to drive improvements.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will ordinarily require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
