Site Supervisor
Location: Brixworth
Pay Rate: £280 - £320 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the Health and Safety of yourself, the workforce and the public in accordance with SHE processes and procedures.
2. Manage and administer the construction works in accordance with the contract.
3. Assist with the implementation of the duties of the Principal Contractor under CDM.
4. Assist with the implementation and ongoing compliance of the Construction Phase including inductions and site rules.
5. Conduct prestart checks, including checking and documenting all PUWER and LOLER items, ensuring welfare is adequate and fit for purpose, and confirming the presence of spill kits.
6. Assist with the implementation and ongoing compliance of all relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and Point of Work Risk Assessment/Daily Brief documents.
7. Issue various permits for activities such as hot works and digging for various contractors in accordance with processes and safe digging procedures.
8. Ensure temporary works are installed in accordance with the approved design details.
9. Carry out regular Health and Safety inspections, reporting all accidents, near misses, and conducting toolbox talks.
10. Monitor and record progress on site, communicating any issues to the relevant site managers in terms of programme and change control in accordance with the terms of the contract.
11. Maintain good record keeping in terms of manpower, plant, and materials.
12. Ensure that any changes, either commercial or operational, are effectively communicated to all relevant parties, signed off, and briefed to the site team in line with the change control procedure.
13. Inspect quality of work in accordance with the inspection test plan, scheme designs, and the specification.
Requirements:
1. SSSTS (CITB Supervisors Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
2. NRSWA Supervisor.
3. 12D Lantra Traffic Management.
4. Temporary Works Supervisor.
5. First Aider.
6. Driving licence (clean).
Skills:
1. Experience managing both direct employees and civil engineering contractors.
2. IT literate - MS Office and order management databases.
3. Excellent leadership qualities.
4. Excellent communication skills with the public, clients, and employees.
5. 'People skills' experience in people management and motivation of staff.
6. Proven ability to instruct and direct staff.
7. A good organiser, both of self and others.
8. Self-motivated.
Knowledge:
1. Understanding and implementation of the Construction (Design Management) CDM regulations.
2. Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual.
3. Material specifications.
4. Good civils, resurfacing, and structures experience.
5. Good working knowledge of construction programming.
6. Commercial awareness.
7. Understanding of NEC4 contract.
