Location: Based in Salford (role requires travel to school sites across the Greater Manchester area)
Salary:£95,000 per annum + car allowance + Pension

About the Role
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to oversee the growth, development, and operational success of our SEN and alternative provision schools across multiple sites. This role will be instrumental in driving school improvement, ensuring compliance, and enhancing student outcomes through strategic leadership and effective operational management.
As part of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with Headteachers, senior managers, and external stakeholders to uphold our commitment to excellence in special education and alternative provision.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: Provide clear direction and oversight to Headteachers and senior management teams, ensuring high standards of education and care.
* Staff Development & Recruitment: Lead on hiring, training, and retaining top-tier education professionals across all sites.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all schools meet independent school standards, SEN regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards.
* Culture - Ensure the organisation’s values are deeply embedded in daily operations, decision-making, and leadership practices.
* Operational & Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation to maintain sustainable and efficient school operations.
* School Improvement & Student Progress: Develop and implement strategies to enhance educational outcomes and ensure student success.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with local authorities,education bodies, and other key partners to strengthen the reputation of EdStart Schools.
* Performance Monitoring: Track school performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous development through data-led insights.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven leadership experience in the education sector, particularly within SEN, alternative provision, or specialist schools.
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential, as this role requires travel between multiple school sites.
* Strong knowledge of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
* A strategic mindset with a track record of driving school improvement and managing complex operations.
* Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
* A strong understanding of budget management and operational planning.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
