The post holder works autonomously and part of a team and is responsible for the design, planning, and construction of precision custom made, complete and partial removable appliances, over dentures, onlay appliances, immediate restoration appliances, training plates, and soft occlusal guards. For the Prosthetics Restorative, Paediatric, and special Care dental departments.
Plan, design and construct custom made removable prosthetic appliances
Plan, coordinate and prioritise daily personal workload to meet laboratory deadlines and to meet service requirements, bringing any areas of concern to the attention of the laboratory manager.
Provide emergency service and repairs for patients
Demonstrate/discuss techniques with undergraduates, clinicians, dental nurses and visitors when required. Provide advice, when asked, on selection of materials and the correct and safe use of equipment within the laboratory.
Responsible for producing a high quality standard of work.
Utilise various specialised pieces of machinery within the laboratory.
Deal with internal and external telephone enquiries routinely.

We are a busy NHS Dental Laboratory consisting of 22 GDC registered dental Technicians, covering Prosthetic Conservation and Orthodontics.
There are a range of training and development opportunities for completion of CPD and regular mandatory training carried out.

Advise and assist consultants, senior and junior clinical staff and undergraduate dental students on technical design and problems relating to patient treatment and expectations.
To participate in regular laboratory/clinic staff meetings and contribute to policy changes and procedures.
To see patients with the clinician when appropriate, in order to provide technical advice and support.
