Key Purpose: To provide a comprehensive, quality, efficient and cost-effective Portering service within the whole of the Hospital, in line with contractual requirements ensuring patient care and customer service being at the forefront of service provision. Main Accountabilities: Ensure that all Back of House Portering functions are undertaken in a professional, competent, and safe manner. Operation of tow tractors, collecting and transporting goods/waste. Support the provision of adequate supplies of fluids to Wards when required (normally once a day). Responsible for the Collection/transfer of refuse, this includes Clinical refuse and special waste such as limbs and cytotoxic waste. Comply with the Company's policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Support the Porter Patient Ambassador to ensure full service follows the site ISO regulations and all quality and environmental systems on site. Undertake duties as identified by the Porter Patient Ambassador and management. Performance targets to be achieved to agreed standards. Assist in maintaining appropriate records in line with service delivery. Ensure safe working practices are always maintained. Advise the Porter Team Leader of any issues associated with the back of house Portering services. Ensure all Portering equipment is in a clean and hygienic condition. Report any potential Health and Safety issues or improvements. Report any defects/issue of equipment. Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Patient Services Manager. What is needed for the role: This is a physical role, and the post-holder will be required to be mobile for most of their working day with manual handling being necessary to lift / carry / operate cleaning machinery. NVQ or Equivalent Qualification. Ability to read, write and converse clearly in English. Basic awareness of Health & Safety working practices. Previous experience working within a hospital or service environment. Customer service skills including clear verbal communication. Understand the importance of patient care, infection control and safety. IT Literate to support innovation.
