Job Description:
We are looking for a specialty doctor grade psychiatrist. The post holder's main role is to provide clinical input and support team members of the Community Mental Health Team which provides mental health services to adult patients of working age (18-65) in the Exeter area of Devon.
This is a full-time, community-based post (though interested LTFT candidates will also be considered). The post holder will be mainly based at the Devon Partnership Trust base at Wonford House hospital in Exeter, where admin space and secretarial support will be provided.
The post holder would be supported to construct a personal development plan with the support of the line manager (consultant psychiatrist supervising the post holder), and will have dedicated weekly SPA time, study leave, and funding to support continuing professional development.
Main Duties of the Job
The Community Mental Health Team provides ongoing support for patients with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs. The post holder is expected to be actively involved in formulating a care plan and treatment plan based on evidence-based treatment guidelines.
The post holder is expected to work in close liaison and collaboratively with other services/agencies. The post holder would be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team.
The team provides initial assessments of patients who are referred to the Service and triaged by the Referrals management service. With the active involvement of the post holder in the consultation and treatment of complex cases, multi-disciplinary (MDT) meetings and the triage process, this team accepts referrals to the CMHT or transfers patients back to primary care or makes referrals to appropriate services available in the community, voluntary sector agencies, and/or specialist services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent
* GMC registration
* Experience in General Psychiatry
* Membership or Affiliateship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
Clinical Skills and Clinical Knowledge
* Excellent clinical skills in interviewing and physical and psychological assessment of patients
* Ability to manage crises and act independently
* Ability to manage potentially violent and disturbed patients
* Confidence in assessing and managing physical health problems and emergencies
* Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983
* Ability to apply psychological models to practical situations
* Evidence-based knowledge of Forensic psychiatry
* Knowledge of clinical risk management
* Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation
Clinical Governance
* Commitment to involvement in on-site programme of clinical governance
