We are looking for an experienced Early Years Childcare Practitioner to join the team at the Christie Day Nursery. We are looking for an outgoing, committed qualified professional who will be required to work as part of a team providing effective childcare in line with Trust and Nursery policies. The post holder will be required to work across the nursery setting to maintain Ofsted adult to child ratios caring for all children meeting their individual needs e.g., feeding, changing, emotional support and educational development in line with the Early Years Framework.
Main duties of the job
Qualifications: NVQ level 3 or above, NNEB Cache Level 3 or equivalent qualification. The candidate must have sound knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. Current training in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Health and Safety. Good communication skills, ability to lead and motivate team colleagues, to be organised and manage your time effectively, and produce written documentation accurately.
Thorough knowledge of Ofsted standards and procedures and be able to take part in Ofsted inspections and early years visits and monitoring.
Ability to use own initiative, share ideas and be innovative and work well within a team.
To plan quality and interesting activities in line with the EYFS; taking into consideration children's individual needs and interests.
Ability to be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times.
To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the setting.
Job responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
* To have knowledge of The Trust Values, Trust and Nursery policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented and carried out in an effective and professional manner.
* Provide quality childcare in line with the National Standards for Full Day Care produced by the governing body Ofsted ensuring the nursery provides a suitable environment for the physical, social and emotional development of the children.
* Maintain good relationships with parents and carers to comply with the nursery's ethos of sharing information and building positive relationships. Giving support and guidance where required.
* Ensure registers, records of accidents, medication and any other information required in line with the nursery's policies and procedures are completed accurately and stored in compliance with the nursery's policy relating to confidentiality.
* Have responsibility for equipment used in the nursery and take any immediate action required to maintain a safe environment for the children reporting any repairs required to the management team.
* To administer First Aid / medicines as required in line with the nursery's policies and ensure all required documentation is in place.
* Have knowledge of evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency situation arising and demonstrate the ability to organise the process competently. Record the event in line with the Trust and Nursery required documentation and discuss any identified problems with the appropriate personnel.
* Have knowledge and training of Health and Safety at work and implement any action required in relation to this.
* To keep rooms clean and tidy, encouraging children to be involved and care for their environment.
* To assist with food preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack ensuring children's individual dietary requirements are appropriately provided for.
* Ensure that all administration work relevant to your role is accurate and up to date.
* To provide professional support and supervision for nursery apprentices, students on work experience and college placements.

* Ensure all Mandatory training and training specific to the job role e.g. Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid are complete and updated as required to maintain compliance.
* Take part in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the nursery setting.
* Develop good relationships with the children in your care, focusing on the child as an individual as well as within a small group.
* To be keyworker for children with additional needs/ child protection concerns and offer support and advice to parents in relation to childcare issues.
Educational
* Participate as an active member of your team to plan and prepare a variety of age-appropriate activities to enhance the children's learning opportunities.
* Provide development experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and observe, assess, and record children's learning to monitor their progress.
* Maintain Learning Journeys relating to children's progress and discuss with parents to comply with the nursery's ethos of sharing information with parents/carers.
* To be aware of government changes and developments in relation to Early Years care and education and participate in developments of the Nursery to improve and enhance the provision.
* Ensure your own professional development is kept up to date; contribute to your annual Personal Development review.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NNEB, CACHE level 3 Diploma in Child Care, NVQ level 3 in Early Years and Education.
* NVQ level 5/6 in Early Years and Education, Foundation degree in Early Childhood studies, Early Years Teacher status.
Experience
* Minimum 3 years post qualifying experience and 2 years employment in a Nursery Practitioner role.
* Previous experience working in a workplace nursery or similar setting.
Skills
* Ability to lead and motivate team colleagues.
* To be organised and manage your time effectively.
* Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
* Negotiate with members of outside agencies as required.
Knowledge
* A sound knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
